TUCSON, Ariz. – A dozen survivors of last month's shooting rampage in Tucson have been honored at a ceremony that cited their bravery and selfless acts.
More than 500 people attended Thursday's luncheon to honor those who attempted to save lives in the minutes after a gunman's attack outside a Tucson supermarket Jan. 8.
Six people died and 13 others were wounded including Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. She's undergoing rehabilitation in Houston for a gunshot wound to the head.
The annual event for the American Red Cross Southern Arizona Chapter was likely the first time the victims were together in the same room although some of them met with President Barack Obama when he visited Tucson days after the shooting.
The Arizona Daily Star says the shooting survivors exchanged hugs at Thursday's event.
