AMMON, Idaho – Police have identified an Iowa man who is believed to have shot two sisters and his two young children before setting fire to a home in eastern Idaho where the shootings occurred.
The Bonneville County sheriff's office says a neighbor reported a small fire at the house in Ammon at about 3 a.m., and that led to the discovery of four bodies and a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound.
The man, Gaylin Leirmoe, later died at Eastern Idaho Medical Center.
Authorities have confirmed the two women who died were sisters, 19-year-old Melinda Kern and 22-year-old Michelle Kern. The sheriff's office says Michelle Kern and Leirmoe had been separated for several months and were the parents of the two children, ages 1 and 3, who were also found dead.
