WASHINGTON – Authorities say a woman threatened to blow up a Metro commuter train in the nation's capital, causing panicked riders to scramble along the tracks to avoid what they feared was a bomb.
No explosives were found on Monday morning.
Police say the 51-year-old from McLean, Va., is undergoing a mental health screen before they decide whether to charge her.
Metro Transit police say she entered the train around 7:30 a.m., got on her knees and said, "You killed my family and now I'm going to kill you all. They didn't say what she may have meant.
Passengers used emergency intercom buttons to alert the conductor and opened emergency door handles. A few dozen passengers scrambled onto the tracks to walk to the next station. The electric rail was immediately deactivated.
