Synopsis

Mr Peabody has achieved things most humans could only dream of. But his most important role began when he adopted Sherman. Peabody raises the boy as his son, using the WABAC to transform history lessons into actual adventures. Then Sherman enters school. His extraordinary knowledge immediately attracts attention, particularly from Penny Peterson. Their rivalry turns into a confrontation, bringing Peabody's unconventional parenting under scrutiny. Hoping to smooth things over, Peabody invites Penny and her parents to dinner. He specifically tells Sherman not to reveal the WABAC. Sherman reveals the WABAC. Determined to impress Penny, he takes her on a trip through time. By the time Peabody discovers what's happened, Penny has become stranded in Ancient Egypt. Peabody and Sherman travel back to retrieve her, beginning a journey that throws them into encounters with some of history's most famous figures. Their attempt to return home takes them through Renaissance Italy and ancient Troy while the timeline becomes increasingly unstable. Historical events begin colliding. People and objects from different periods threaten to appear where they don't belong. And Peabody's greatest invention becomes capable of destroying the very history it was created to explore. Saving the future means putting history back together. But Peabody also has another problem to solve. For all his intelligence, he has to accept that raising Sherman isn't something he can approach like another scientific equation.

The Movie Trailer

Mr Peabody isn't an ordinary dog.

He's a scientist, inventor, businessman, Nobel laureate and one of the most intelligent creatures alive.

He's also a father.

After adopting a human boy named Sherman, Peabody gives his son an education unlike anything a classroom can offer.

Using his greatest invention — the WABAC time machine — Peabody and Sherman travel directly into history.

Sherman doesn't simply read about the French Revolution.

He can visit it.

He doesn't have to imagine meeting Leonardo da Vinci.

Peabody can take him there.

Everything works remarkably well until Sherman starts school.

After a confrontation with classmate Penny Peterson, Peabody invites Penny and her parents to their home to repair the relationship.

There's just one rule.

Sherman must not show Penny the WABAC.

Naturally, that's exactly what he does.

When their unsupervised journey through time goes wrong, Peabody has to rescue the children and repair the damage they've caused before history—and the future built on it—changes forever.

PEABODY

The Smartest Dog in the World Still Has Something to Learn About Being a Dad

Peabody can solve very few problems.

Science, mathematics, engineering and history are simply subjects waiting to be understood.

Sherman is different.

Peabody loves his son, but parenting refuses to follow the rules of an experiment.

Sherman makes mistakes.

He takes risks.

And increasingly, he wants enough independence to make decisions without Peabody making them for him.

That's the challenge no amount of intelligence can completely prepare Peabody for.

THE WABAC

History Is the Greatest Classroom Ever Built — Until the Kids Borrow the Time Machine

The WABAC gives Sherman an education no textbook could possibly match.

Historical figures aren't names printed on a page.

They're people he can meet.

Events aren't illustrations.

They're places he can visit.

But time travel also means one bad decision can have consequences stretching across centuries.

Sherman and Penny don't merely break Peabody's rules when they take the machine.

They begin interfering with the events that created their own present.

Suddenly history isn't a classroom anymore.

It's something they have to save.

HISTORY

Fixing the Past Gets Complicated When Every Century Starts Arriving at Once

Peabody understands history because history has an order.

One event leads to another.

Change something important enough, and everything that follows could change with it.

That's exactly what makes the growing damage to the timeline so dangerous.

The boundaries separating different periods begin collapsing.

People who should be divided by hundreds or thousands of years suddenly occupy the same world.

For perhaps the first time, Peabody faces a problem where simply knowing the answer isn't enough.

He has to trust Sherman to help him solve it.

And that may ultimately be the more important lesson.
