About Jim Sturgess
Jim Sturgess is an English actor and musician, born May 16, 1978, in Wandsworth, London, England. Known for work across drama, romance, thrillers, and science fiction, Sturgess gained international recognition in the 2000s through a series of prominent film roles.
His major breakthrough came with Across the Universe (2007), the Beatles-inspired musical directed by Julie Taymor, in which he played Jude. The performance introduced Sturgess to a worldwide audience and showcased both his acting and musical abilities.
He followed this with the successful gambling drama 21 (2008), starring as Ben Campbell alongside Kevin Spacey and Laurence Fishburne. Sturgess went on to appear in films including The Other Boleyn Girl, Crossing Over, The Way Back and Upside Down.
In 2011, he starred opposite Anne Hathaway in the romantic drama One Day, playing Dexter Mayhew. He later appeared in the ambitious science-fiction film Cloud Atlas, playing multiple characters in its interconnected story.
