Megan Fox

Megan Fox has built a career that moves between blockbuster action, sharp-edged comedy, television and genre films, bringing a cool, direct presence to each. Born on May 16, 1986, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, she began training in dance and drama at five and moved to Los Angeles at 17 after completing school through correspondence. Fox made her acting debut as Brianna Wallace in the 2001 direct-to-DVD comedy Holiday in the Sun. Guest appearances on What I Like About You and Two and a Half Men followed, along with a regular role as Sydney Shanowski on Hope & Faith. Her feature-film debut came opposite Lindsay Lohan in Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, where she played rival Carla Santini. Her breakthrough arrived with Transformers in 2007. As Mikaela Banes, Fox became one of the most recognisable faces in the film’s large-scale collision of machines, spectacle and adolescent adventure. She returned for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in 2009, but that same year produced a more interesting long-term calling card with Jennifer’s Body. Playing its dangerous title character, Fox leaned into horror, black comedy and the public image surrounding her. The film’s initial reception was mixed, but it later developed a cult following and underwent a critical reassessment as a feminist work. Fox subsequently played April O’Neil in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and its sequel, Out of the Shadows. On television, she joined New Girl as Reagan Lucas during its fifth and sixth seasons, finding a place within the show’s established comic rhythm while giving it a noticeably different energy.
