Synopsis

Ig Perrish once loved Merrin Williams. Then Merrin was brutally murdered. With suspicion immediately falling upon Ig, he becomes an outcast in the town where they grew up. Friends, neighbours and strangers treat him as though the case has already been decided. Ig insists he didn't kill her. But proving it is another matter. After a night of anger and heavy drinking, Ig wakes to discover two horns emerging from his forehead. Their appearance is bizarre enough. What they do to the people around him is even stranger. Those who encounter Ig begin confessing thoughts and desires they would normally keep hidden. Some reveal petty jealousies. Others expose secrets that could destroy relationships. Ig soon realises the horns may let him uncover information nobody would willingly tell him. Instead of hiding from what is happening, he begins using his new ability to investigate Merrin's death. Every confession brings him closer to the truth. But the deeper Ig digs into the people he trusted, the darker that truth becomes.

The Movie Trailer

Horns is a dark supernatural mystery starring Daniel Radcliffe as Ig Perrish, a young man whose life has been destroyed by the murder of his girlfriend Merrin.

Ig hasn't been convicted of the crime, but that doesn't matter to the people around him.

His hometown has already decided he's guilty.

Then Ig wakes after a night of drinking to discover something considerably stranger than another accusation.

Horns are beginning to grow from his head.

Even more disturbing is their effect on other people. In Ig's presence, people begin revealing their darkest thoughts, desires, and secrets—often without any idea why.

For a man desperate to discover who really murdered Merrin, his apparent curse may also be the weapon he needs to uncover the truth.

EVERYONE THINKS HE DID IT

Ig Perrish Has Already Been Found Guilty by His Hometown

Ig's problem isn't simply that the police suspect him of murdering Merrin.

Everyone else appears to have reached the same conclusion.

The loss of the woman he loved is immediately followed by the destruction of his reputation, leaving Ig isolated inside the community where he grew up.

That makes the mystery intensely personal.

Finding Merrin's killer isn't merely about clearing his name. It's about discovering who among the people around him has been hiding something far worse.

And once the horns appear, secrets become increasingly difficult to keep.

THE HORNS

A Curse Becomes Ig's Greatest Investigative Weapon

The horns initially appear to be another punishment inflicted upon a man whose life is already falling apart.

Then people start talking.

In Ig's presence, ordinary social restraint begins to disappear. People confess thoughts they would never normally admit and reveal impulses they'd rather keep hidden.

For Ig, that's horrifying.

It's also incredibly useful.

The town that condemned him is suddenly incapable of keeping its secrets.

As Ig begins deliberately using the horns' effect, his apparent curse becomes a supernatural interrogation tool that can bring him closer to Merrin's killer.

The problem is that discovering what people really think isn't necessarily something anyone should wish for.

DANIEL RADCLIFFE

Horns Takes Radcliffe Somewhere Far From Hogwarts

Horns arrived at an interesting point in Daniel Radcliffe's post-Harry Potter career.

Ig Perrish is about as far removed from the clean-cut young wizard as Radcliffe could reasonably travel.

He's angry, grieving, frequently drunk and gradually transforming into something increasingly demonic.

Yet beneath the supernatural imagery is a character driven by a very human motivation.

Ig wants to know what happened to Merrin.

The horns, confessions and increasingly dark fantasy elements surround what remains fundamentally a story about grief, love and a man refusing to accept responsibility for a murder he knows he didn't commit.
